Distributed optimal active and reactive power control for wind farms based on ADMM

In this paper, a distributed optimal active and reactive power control (DARPC) strategy based on the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) is proposed for wind farms (WFs). The WFs operate in manner to minimize network loss, voltage deviations buses from rated voltage, output WTs their proportional distribution (PD)-based reference. An optimization problem formulated as quadratic programming (QP) by using linearized DistFlow model. ADMM-based solution used decompose centralized several subproblems which are solved individual local controllers with exchanged information practical neighbor controllers. Compared existing distributed/hierarchical control, impacts injection taken into consideration optimized while meeting dispatch command transmission system operator (TSO). eliminates requirement central unit. conventional scalability improved. A WF consisting 20 simulated MATLAB/Simulink test effectiveness DARPC strategy.
